Influential and Inspiring Women of Colour Series
For this 10 part self-initiated project I showcased and celebrated women from both history and from the present day that are influential and inspiring by illustrating them and learning more about them and then sharing them via social media! (@bypeoni)
Some iconic Women in this series include:
Cornelia Sorabji - The first female to study law at Oxford University and the first woman to practice law in both India and Britain!
Anna May Wong - The first Asian American movie star in Hollywood!
Halima Aden - Ex-Fashion Model and pioneer for muslim women of all identities who is noted for being the first woman who wore a hijab in the Miss Minnesota US pageant!
Ava DuVernay- Director, producer, writer, marketer and distributor of independent films. DuVernay was also the first Black women nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Director!
