Reflection Nine: BALANCE
The phrase, 'As above, so below...', is often used by both writers and astrologers to describe why and how the world works. Literature credits the saying to Hermes - an Olympian God in Greek Mythology! In simple terms, it means that everything is connected and that what happens on one level of reality also happens on every other level.
This concept reminds us of the importance of BALANCE -we can understand from this that our lives require balance in almost every aspect.
More can be learnt about balance through Yin Yang. The Taijitu symbol which represents the concept of Yin Yang, shows the two halves coming together to reflect complete wholeness.
WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM YIN YANG:
1. They are not absolute - and require each other
2. They are not static- They flow and morphe over time (an example may be the transition from day to night)
3. The balance can be distrupted by outside influences- which leads to excess and deficiency
Balance is key as it enables us to feel relaxed, grounded, motivated and also allows us to think clearly. In our own lives it is important we seek this wholeness and balance within ourselves. This may be done by simply looking for other opinions or activities to expand our minds if we are ever going through difficulties.
